The Transatlantic Summer Academy on Sustainability is a three-week course on sustainability and intercultural learning for German and US-American students.
This course is organized by three partners from Germany and the United States of America: InterCultur and Jacobs University as well as AFS Intercultural Programs USA.
The Transatlantic Summer Academy on Sustainability focuses on (ecological) sustainability, climate change, energy and the environment with an intercultural perspective of international energy politics, environmental ethics and further ecological issues. The learning takes place in workshops, lectures, practical exercises as well as during excursions.
The innovative three weeks Transatlantic Summer Academy adresses the topic of approaches for intercultural challenges in international energy politics and environmental ethics as well as further ecological issues. We offer an academic program at university level, tackling both theoretical and practical issues, including experiential learning approaches in order to enhance more sustainable learning outcomes.
Several excursions during the Transatlantic Summer Academy add additional value to the program and enable the participants to get further insights to sustainability and intercultural issues.
In the last years the Transatlantic Summer Academy addressed US-American and German citizens (18 – 35 years) with genuine interest in the topics of sustainability and intercultural affairs. The main target audience was students or young professionals with intercultural experience. Good command of the English language is required, as programs are offered in English.
